Bédoin Département 84

BédoinBedoin is a cute agricultural village near Mont Ventoux, where AOC listed wine is produced. It shelters one of the largest state forests in France, which is spread over more than 6300 hectares, a third of the forest coverage of the Mont Ventoux. It is undoubtedly the most diverse forest in Vaucluse, with a rich flora comprised of 1200 different species!
You will also love Bedoin for its rural heritage: the roman chapel Notre Dame du Moustier; the church des Baux and the 12th century Chapel de la Madeleine.

A little further from Bedoin you can go towards Barroux. This high village will offer you a beautiful panoramic view over the plain du Comtat, the Vaucluse Mounts, the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. It is famous for its castle, first built during the 12th century and modified during the Renaissance. Despite several reconstruction attempts, it was ultimately destroyed during the arson of 1944.
Today, a part of the castle is open to visitors, and is on the list of Monuments Historiques (National Landmarks). It holds medieval artefacts and a chapel decorated with murals from the 18th century.
Also, we recommend you to visit the Sainte Madeleine Monastery and the Saint Jean-Baptiste Church.
