NB :the underlined destinations are really worth the visit !
Vaison-la-Romaine Département 84

Vaison la Romaine began as a medieval town, and 2000 years of history have given it many faces. After being the capital of the Voconces Gallic tribe, Vaison won the Romans’ heart. They turned Vasion Vocontiorum into a radiant city. The city is of particular interest to archaeologists. The Ouveze stream, running through the heart of the town, divides Vaison into two banks.
On the right bank, you will find the former site of the Roman colony, as well as the modern city. Archaeological surveys have revealed vast and luxurious Gallo-Roman houses, featuring very sophisticated interior architecture.
On the left bank you will find the Upper City, which dates back to the 13th century. Today its castle has fallen into ruin, leaving the Upper City a picturesque destination for visitors, with its little shady squares, beautiful ancient doors, and narrow paved streets. Your stroll will be interspersed by superb fountains and townhouse facades from the 16th and 17th century.
In the magnificent landscape of Mont Ventoux and Dentelles de Montmirail, you will travel across 20 centuries of the history of Provence and Comtat Venaissin.

- The Gallo-Roman site of Puymin
- The ancient Roman Theatre
