Apt is famous for its blended clay pottery. The tradition goes back to the 18th century and was doubtlessly inspired by the beauty of the ochre clays which were so prevalent in the region. Beautifully transparent glazing, beautiful colours for the clays. Today, the craftspersons in Apt continue to work with the many hued clays, and invite ceramicists from other regions of France to join in a Pottery Fair. A wide diversity of talents, many different influences. The exhibitors are selected by the local potters and ceramicists and exhibit throughout France and abroad. Exhibitors are specialists in many different aspects, such as the art of nériage, architectural and utilitarian faience ware, and other facets. With special emphasis on the blended clays from Apt and elsewhere.
