Gardens and flowers around Avignon
- Du Thursday 01 May 2008 au Friday 31 October 2008
In Villeneuve-lez-Avignon, just across the Rhône from the City of the Popes, the gardens at the Fort Saint-André Abbey are ranked among the 100 Most Beautiful Gardens in France.
Rose gardens, basins, pergola covered with wisteria and roses in the spring. Serenity and harmony reign supreme here. In Sorgues, gardens of Florentine inspiration surround the 18th Century Château, a marvelous ensemble where blue, pink, green and white dominate, with three elegant basins and a giant magnolia, the oldest in Europe.
On the other side of the Durance River, the Aroma and Perfume Museum in Graveson has its experimental garden of aromatic herbs. Learn about how perfumes and essential oils are made.
